“I was walking to class across the mall and heard what sounded like boards cracking and being nailed at a near-by construction site. When I saw someone fall, I ran to the south side of the mall and got behind the statue of Governor James Hogg.
People were firing up at the tower from behind ME. That was probably the greatest danger to me.
After the shooting stopped, people began to move toward the Tower door where they finally began to remove bodies….Blood was everywhere as they moved the dead so quickly that they were not completely covered.
This was, I believe, the first major event of its type and, to my knowledge, counseling for students was not in place.”
