Cheryl Botts Dickerson was known as one-half of “the luckiest couple in Austin.” She and Don Walden left the observation deck and greeted Charles Whitman as they walked across the reception area, stepping over a puddle of tower receptionist Edna Townsley’s blood. (Townsley was fatally injured and hidden behind a couch.)
Botts Dickerson and Walden later saw someone shot right in front of them.
