Nick Kralj started as a student at UT-Austin in 1961. He lived in Cactus Terrace Dormitory and started a poker circle until a dorm manager told them to stop.
Charles Whitman started his own poker circle at Goodall Wooten dormitory (where Whitman was supervisor). Kralj played poker with Whitman there 1961 – 1962.
Kralj saw Whitman threaten a man described as a “local gangster” with a gun. After that, Kralj decided never to play poker with them again.
Kralj was in Galveston the day of the shooting.
